James Marston divorce lawyer

About James Marston

Mine has been a career of decades of experience in civil and criminal matters in both state and federal courts, before judges and juries, but these days I limit my practice to marital dissolution and legal separation matters and to appeals to the Washington Court of Appeals and Supreme Court in a wide variety of civil cases.

My undergraduate degree was from the University of California at Berkeley, following which I achieved my law degree from the University of Washington. Immediately after law school graduation I had a year’s clerkship for the Chief Judge of the Washington Court of Appeals in Seattle. I was an associate at a medium-sized law firm in Seattle for two years immediately after but then founded my own law firm in downtown Seattle with two law school classmates, which eventually grew to nine partners. Two former partners became President of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, one the President of the Washington State Bar Association, and one a two-term Justice of the State Supreme Court.

I have chosen to devote the final years of my career to marital dissolution and legal separation cases and to civil appeals in those cases and in a diverse variety of other civil practice areas.

I would be pleased to meet with you if you feel I might be the right person to assist you with your own case.
